Overview

White sands, crystal-clear ponds, river islands and fresh and salt water beaches in two breathtaking destinations. The two locations of this experience – Lençóis Maranhenses and the Delta of Parnaíba, promote direct contact with the lush nature of the region
Lençois Maranhenses is one of the most beautiful, unique and breathtaking places in the world. Located in the north of Brasil, runs about 75km wide by 25km deep. It became a National Park in 1981 and tourism picked up only about 10 years ago. We can still say that it is a “hidden gem” of Brazil.
The reason that the Lençóis landscape is such an attraction is because of the unique and gorgeous scenery of hundreds (maybe thousands) of undulating sand dunes and the area gets its names from this white, wavy landscape, as lençóis means ‘bedsheets’ in Portuguese. These dunes after the wet season are full with rainwater. The water is “filtered” by the dunes, and becomes nearly crystal clear, in beautiful colors of blue and green. There is some plant and fish life in the lagoons. These factors, plus a gorgeous blue sky make the landscape at Lençóis like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

Parnaíba River Delta – is the only open sea delta in the Americas. With it, there are only two other in the world: the Nile River’s, in Egypt, and the Mekong River’s, in Vietnam. It is an ecological sanctuary of enormous natural beauty. Its ramifications draw an archipelago with more than 75 islands, dunes, freshwater lagoons and a lush tropical forest.

Seven Cities National Park
In an area of transition between caatinga and cerrado, it brings together seven groups of rock formations called “cities”. Winds, rains, heat and flora sculpted the natural monuments, giving rise to shapes that resemble symbols, animals and human figures attractions, which also include cave paintings. The park stands out for its picturesque formations of sandstone and for its rock inscriptions. Sete Cidades / Seven Cities National Park has already been mentioned by the French writer Erich Von Däniken, author of the cult “Were The Gods Astronauts ?” and aroused wide interest in various scientific segments, attracting historians, geologists, archaeologists and even ufologists.

Notes

“Conjured by wind and water, a magical sandscape on the northeastern coast of Brazil is no mirage. It is a magical desert, with wave after wave of shimmering white sand.
It’s as if the sea near the Bahamas suddenly appeared like a mirage in the middle of the Sahara. Only in this desert the mirage is real.” ~ National Geographic
